“I shudder when I think that I might not be here forever.”
Transition can be a little scary sometimes.

Fan Art of the Day: The Gauntlet of Infinity
Could Patton Oswalt’s Marvel-crossover vision for the next Star Wars film actually become a reality? Redditor Criticalbuzz made this colorful mock-up poster in homage to Oswalt’s multi-verse script idea that he pitched during his recent appearance in an episode of Parks and Recreation. In the episode, Oswalt guest stars as a filibustering citizen who launches into an impressive non-stop eight-minute long improvised speech at a town hall meeting.
This would honestly kill me in the best way possible.
Two years ago tonight I was writing a sestina about my friend. She was in the hospital being treated for severe smoke inhalation after being caught in a house fire a couple days earlier. One of her good friends had already passed from the same fire. She died that night while I was writing the poem. While I don’t think it’s the best thing I’ve ever written, I know it’s the most important. I sent it to her family a couple months later. The KPC’s tumblr recently posted it, but I felt like posting it with a little bit of the background. Here it is.
Corvus
Remember when we met? Your hair was dark.
It showed beneath that hat you sometimes wear.
Not dark enough to say that it was raven,
and yet it seemed to take in all the light.
Perhaps the light absorbed into your skin,
it certainly was soft just like your hair.
Remember how you always changed your hair?
I thought that it was beautiful and dark.
You dyed it just as tattoos dye your skin,
those tattoos are your stories that you wear.
And even when you dyed your hair to light,
I always thought it dark, but not quite raven.
You smile a clever smile, quite like a raven.
Often hiding back behind your hair.
That smile, unlike your hair, is always light,
and strong enough to fight back any dark.
I doubt that you are ever quite aware,
of what your smile does to people’s skin.
Your smile brings warmth to any person’s skin,
including skin as cold as Edgar’s Raven.
You cannot be completely unaware
the way you watch from underneath your hair.
I hope you know you help me through the dark,
and lead me to a place where birds alight.
And even as that fire came alight
I know it never dared to touch your skin.
The smoke that filled the room must have been dark,
and even thick enough to blind a raven.
That monstrous smoke could never reach your hair,
and settled on those clothes that you would wear.
I picture now the smile that you must wear,
knowing how you travel towards the light.
And even when they brush aside your hair,
you feel it less and less and leave your skin.
And I recall your hair that’s not quite raven,
and how it looked when we lay in the dark.
You dyed your hair, but I was unaware.
I could not see your light beneath the dark.
And now you leave your skin to fly with ravens.
MY FAVORITE THING: JaVale’s Defense
JaVale McGee is 7-feet tall, with a 7-foot 6½-inch wingspan and a 31½-inch vertical leap. But when Blake Griffin’s in flight, there’s no need to go for the block.
Just turn and watch in horror.
Dang.

Wolverine Meets His Match of the Day: PSY is playing Sydney today, so he prepped for his performance with a “Gangnam Style” visit with Hugh Jackman on The Wolverine set.
[thanks, john!]
Awesome
Cooking With Christopher Walken of the Day: And also Richard Belzer, the crazy Jew Law and Order star who made news this week for saluting Hitler and making a rape joke during an interview on Fox.
Just weirdly awesome.
